Scientific and Professional Gathering Organized by DIMK Serbia and IMS Institute Belgrade Held

Organized by the Society for Materials and Structures Testing and Research of Serbia (DIMK) and the IMS Institute Belgrade, a scientific and professional gathering was successfully held on April 17, 2026, under the title:

"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND CONDITION ASSESSMENT OF BUILDING STRUCTURES IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS"

The gathering took place on the premises of the IMS Institute Belgrade, from 10:00 to 15:15, with a total of 134 participants attending, which testifies to the great interest and relevance of the topic.

At the very opening, the importance of such gatherings as a place for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the scientific and professional public was highlighted. It was particularly emphasized that the speakers were eminent experts in their fields, whose lectures significantly contributed to the quality of the discussion and the transfer of modern knowledge. The large response of participants further confirmed the importance of the topics addressed by the gathering.

During the gathering, numerous current topics in the field of design, construction, quality control, as well as maintenance of building structures in accordance with applicable national and European regulations and standards were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on:

• the importance of optimal design and high-quality execution as the basis for structural durability, 

• the application of the national annex SRPS EN 13670/NA, 

• the role of regular and extraordinary inspections of structures, 

• modern methods of non-destructive testing, 

• assessment of the actual concrete strength in the structure, 

• condition assessment and planning of remediation and restoration measures. 

It was concluded that the design, execution of works, modern rehabilitation, and systemic maintenance of facilities represent key pillars of the safety of building structures, but also of the people who use them.

During the final session, it was pointed out that there is significant room for further improvement of cooperation between science and practice, as well as all participants in the construction process. Constructive discussions and exchange of experiences showed that such gatherings are of exceptional importance for the advancement of engineering practice.

Special thanks were expressed to all lecturers for their quality presentations, to participants for their active participation, as well as to the sponsors – the companies Ading and MC-Bauchemie, whose support contributed to the successful realization of the gathering.

Upon completion of the gathering, participants were awarded certificates of participation, as well as flash drives with all the presented papers.

Those present expressed exceptional satisfaction with the organization of the gathering, the quality of the presentations, and the practical examples presented, emphasizing that their participation was highly beneficial. It is particularly significant that many participants showed interest in future events of this type, asking questions about subsequent gatherings.

Concluding that the goals of the gathering were fully achieved, the hope was expressed that such meetings would continue in the future, with an even larger number of participants and new topics of importance for the profession.
