Scientific-professional meeting held by DIMK Serbia and IMS Institute Belgrade

Organized by the Society for Testing and Research of Materials and Structures of Serbia (DIMK) and the IMS Institute Belgrade, on April 17, 2026, a scientific-professional meeting titled:

„DESIGN, EXECUTION, AND ASSESSMENT OF THE CONDITION OF BUILDING STRUCTURES IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS“

The meeting was held at the premises of the IMS Institute Belgrade, from 10:00 to 15:15, with a total of 134 participants in attendance, which testifies to the great interest in and relevance of the topic.

At the opening, the importance of such gatherings as places for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the scientific and professional communities was emphasized. It was especially highlighted that the presenters were eminent experts in their fields, whose lectures significantly contributed to the quality of the discussion and the transfer of contemporary knowledge. The large turnout further confirmed the importance of the topics addressed by the meeting.

During the meeting, numerous current topics were discussed in the fields of design, execution, quality control, as well as maintenance of building structures in accordance with applicable national and European regulations and standards. Special emphasis was placed on:

  • the importance of optimal design and quality execution as the basis for the durability of structures,

  • the application of the national annex SRPS EN 13670/NA,

  • the role of regular and extraordinary inspections of structures,

  • modern methods of non-destructive testing,

  • the assessment of the actual concrete strength in the structure,

  • the assessment of condition and planning of rehabilitation and restoration measures.

It was concluded that design, execution of works, modern rehabilitation, and systematic maintenance of facilities represent the key pillars of the safety of building structures, as well as the people who use them.

In the final session, it was emphasized that there is significant room for further improvement of cooperation between science and practice, as well as among all participants in the construction process. Constructive discussions and exchange of experience showed that such gatherings are of exceptional importance for improving engineering practice.

Special thanks were extended to all speakers for their quality presentations, to the participants for their active involvement, as well as to the sponsors – Ading and MC-Bauchemie – whose support contributed to the successful organization of the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, participants were awarded certificates of attendance, as well as flash drives with all presented papers.
